Woods occupies the ground floor of five Georgian town houses in a quiet cul de sac opposite the Assembly Rooms. With its Georgian elegance and warm informal atmosphere Woods has created an enviable reputation as one of Bath's best independent restaurants. David Price and his French wife Claude have owned Woods since 1979. Joined by Stuart Ash in 1994, he has been Head Chef for the past 15 years. Son Gaston, daughter Gabby and son in law Joe are all part of the team. A truly family run business offering personal service and dazzling food at competitive prices. British cooking with a French accent.
I had a fantastic dining experience at The Woods Restaurant! The staff were friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The food was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned, so I didn’t need to add any extra salt or seasoning. We enjoyed a beautifully cooked steak with crispy fries, a perfectly balanced fish dish with delicate flavors, and a delightful dessert that was both visually stunning and delicious. And the highlight of the evening? Their have a Hungarian dessert wine - Tokaji Édes Szomorodni - truly the non plus ultra! A wonderful place with great ambiance, excellent service, and outstanding flavors. Highly recommend!
Great restaurant, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff are attentive and welcoming. The food was top notch, I had the duck and the other halve had hake, perfection. My only criticism and even though they were cooked well, is that the boiled potatoes and broccoli were slightly disappointing. I would highly recommend woods to friends/family.
A lovely family run restaurant. Everyone is friendly and the food is great. We have eaten at Woods for many years, we’ve chosen to celebrate birthdays and many a special family occasion there. A firm family favourite.
The best restaurants in central Bath! Perfect atmosphere, food and service. Cook to perfection 🤤 and definitely value of money compare to any Michelin star restaurant with even better quality! Main course, dessert, coffee etc all-around great 💯 Over 40 years history for reasons. Definitely will come back again and again!
While the food was good, it was nothing exceptional. Portions were small and prices were very high. While we were certainly not expecting a budget meal, I do think that for the prices being charged, the food was somewhat dated and lacking the type of "wow factor" that would justify the expense. Service was very good and I have no complaints on that front. However, we had better and more exciting meals at about half the price at several restaurants in Bath.
