With a long standing tradition of delivering hospitality to the highest standards, The Royal has been established for more than 150 years. We are conveniently situated in the heart of Bath only a short walk away from the best attractions in the city. Beautiful Bath … the gateway to the lovely Cotswolds.

The Royal is a Grade II listed building and first opened as a hotel in 1846. The present owners have owned it since 1995. Our lovely hotel has undergone a programme of refurbishment and upgrading to improve our facilities whilst maintaining the classic architectural style of the property, which was designed by the renowned engineer and architect Brunel. All of our rooms are individually decorated and very well maintained and our restaurant – Brasserie Brunel – has been styled to capture the atmosphere of a Parisian brasserie.

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend spent in Bath. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The whole building is clean, charming and characterful. The food is very tasty and filling. Location is extremely convenient and the staff are lovely. Thank you again we really enjoyed our wedding anniversary time there. I wish you much success in the future.
We stayed here for three nights in late April. Communication with the hotel was excellent; I changed the booking three times, ultimately booking through their website and saving a good bit of money, as well as getting free breakfast. The service was excellent during our stay. The room was small, but adequate for a couple, and absolutely spotless. The bedding, towels and robes were soft and luxurious. Breakfast was a delight, served in a beautiful room and very tasty - choice of a cooked entree plus a very nice selection of pastries, yogurts, etc. We booked dinner in the hotel restaurant one night; it was good but nothing to get excited about. Location was perfect for a couple traveling by bus and train; almost on top of the train station, and about a 5 minute walk to most of the tourist sights. Yes, everything was dated, as some reviewers have said, but in kind of a good way - hearkening to a bygone era. We would definitely stay here again.
Wow! From head to toe the staff at the hotel were brilliant. Friendly and efficient at all times. The breakfast was superb and really good value. The room was lovely and the location was superb if you want to be in the thick of it with transport and restaurants. Well done all!
The staff at this hotel are what makes it such a wonderful place. Andrea was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond when i needed aid. The rooms are small, but we had everything we needed and the beds are comfy! The location is excellent--right across from the train station, yet it is very quiet in the room. The restaurant is stellar. The food, impeccable and a reasonable price. We were here for 4 nights and would reccommend if you like a place with character and wonderful service.
Fantastic location close to the railway station and a short walk away from Bath town centre. Note the private parking is only 5 spaces and, despite booking a space, something went wrong and we had to use a nearby car park. Which was fine but it was not as advertised and was an extra cost. The hotel itself is a little tired and our bathroom on particularly had some peeling paint, a cracked tile and generally needed an upgrade. Unfortunately outside our window we could hear some staff on their break which was ok until they started smoking and we could smell it in our room
